Dear AEU Members:
Attached please find correspondence from CSEA regarding the implementation of Timely. This implementation affects Field Staff who currently submit Activity Reports. CSEA intends to replace the current Activity Report with Timely.
AEU sent CSEA the attached demand to bargain and request for information. CSEA responded to AEU's request for information earlier this week which is also attached.
CSEA's response to AEU's information request includes two questions of AEU. They are as follows:
CSEA’s Questions for AEU
1. Surveillance Concerns: CSEA noted questions implying concerns around invasive monitoring features (e.g., keystroke tracking and mouse activity). Could AEU clarify if specific sources or discussions suggest that Timely includes these surveillance capabilities? Understanding these sources would help us address misconceptions.
2. Differentiating Time-Tracking from Monitoring: CSEA perceives that AEU may view Timely as introducing a new level of employee monitoring, which is not its intent. Could AEU provide feedback on why Timely might be perceived as more invasive than current manual reporting methods? Such input could allow CSEA to address specific areas where AEU may feel privacy might be impacted.
Stewards are collecting responses to the questions posed by CSEA. If any of you have input you would like to share, please provide it to your office steward so we can gather the input and provide it to CSEA. Additionally, if any of you have suggestions for language you'd like to see included in an agreement, please also share that with your steward or any member of the Bargaining Committee.
We will discuss this more at our General Membership Meeting on Saturday, November 16, 2024. We hope to see you all there.
In Solidarity,
AEU Bargaining Committee
